Certification
CYA Coastal Navigation Standard, CYA Celestial Navigation Standard or VHF radio certificate (required to operate any marine radio). Marine Weather Courses are available as well (no certificaiton).
Program
Both Navigation Standards are taught in evening classes (Wednesdays) and morning classes (Saturdays).
Duration: Costal Navigation 6 classes, Celestial Navigation: 10 classes & the VHF class is one full day.
Class room location is at the Scottish Community Center in Marpole (South Granville). This is also the home of the Bluewater Cruising Association.

Your Instructor for the Navigation, VHF & Weather Courses is Dominique Prinet.
Dominique is a Power and Sail Instructor, certified for all levels by the Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) and the International Sail and Power Academy (ISPA). He is an Instructor Evaluator for the CYA.
He has taught boating in France, and out of Vancouver since 2000, both on water and on land. He also holds a 60-ton Masters certification from Transport Canada, and a General Radio Operator's licence from Industry Canada.
