The Adventure of a Lifetime
This is one of the ultimate adventures you can embark on. We will be sailing across the Pacific Ocean for over 2,300 NM. We will not be able to rely on assistance for most of the passage. In the best case there might be a cargo ship within a few days that could assist if need be. But for all purpose and intent we have to be self sufficient, equipped with what we have on the boat and our collective experience.
Sailing under the stars, out of sight of land with blue water as far as you can see cannot be described in words. Watching the sunset on the Pacific Oceans is something you will never forget. Occasionally, we may even see dolphins and whales. Making landfall after more than two weeks at sea will give you a great sense of accomplishment. You will have a story to tell and memories for a lifetime.

Additional information
Goals
The 2018 Vic-Maui return delivery continues the successful story that started aboard Turicum (2012) and continued with String Theory.
1) Our number one goal is to bring crew & boat safely to Vancouver,
2) Learning about preparing for passage making (crew & boat), offshore weather, dealing with emergencies and tactics for offshore sailing,
3) Fostering friendships and making new sailing connections,
4) Achieve personal growth by working through challenging conditions and reaping the rewards of sailing with a professional team.
Boat
Salient is a Beneteau First 40.7 that successfully competed in the 2016 Vic-Maui race. Salient was prepared professionally by First Yachts Services. Salient has the latest North Sails technology for the mainsail & jib (North Sails 3Di). The sail inventory is complemented with spinnakers, heavy weather & storm sails. Salient has a state of the art watermaker on board and redundant satellite navigation & communication systems.

Personal Offshore Survival Course Safety at Sea
